Lacquer pen-box made from painted and varnished papier mâché. The design on the top of the box comprises two lovers standing in a landscape by a river with buildings and a bridge in the background. Around the sides are rural scenes with animals, a series of portraits, and a veiled woman being led by a man on a camel.
