Gouache painting on paper from a portfolio of sixty-three paintings of deities and daily life. Śiva and Uma seated on a throne together with the baby Skanda. Skanda, naked, stands between his parents, his legs slightly flexed, as if on the verge of dancing. Śiva carries a damaru (hourglass shaped drum) and mriga (gazelle) in his upper pair of hands, while the lower ones are in abhaya and varada mudra. Uma, of a deep green complexion, carries a red flower in her right hand. The trio are typically refered to as Somaskanda when shown together.
