Shallow dish on splayed foot, rim turned downwards. Earthenware covered front and back with presumed tin glaze. Painted decoration including extensive use of white: scene shows the interior of a building. To left is Julius Caesar in armour, seated; centre an old man (Cicero), with a large book; on the right four soldiers. After a woodcut in the 1533 Italian translation of Dio Cassius.
