Long-case clock; one-month strike movement; calendar dial on gilt matted ground; circular silvered-metal chapter-ring, calendar apertures giving days of week and month; bolt and shutter maintaining power; going-train on left; case finely veneered with olive-wood and inlaid with star medallions in ebony and satinwood; door panel with glass pendulum aperture; side panels and borders veneered with walnut, rising hood with spirally turned columns to the angles; mock fretwork panels to frieze; pediment pierced and carved with winged cupid's mask; moulded scrolls, floral medallions and foliage. TRAIN-COUNTS. Going. Gt wheel 128 2nd wheel 90/8 3rd wheel 72/6 Escape wheel 30/6 Has no conventional centre wheel, drive to hands comes from a friction tight wheel mounted on 2nd wheel arbor. This friction tight wheel turns once in three hours, has 126 teeth and gears with the "minute pinion" of 42 which turns once an hour. Also mounted on the 2nd wheel arbor - in fact mounted on the wheel of 126, is another wheel of 15 which gears with the hour wheel of 60 - which thus turns once in 12 hours. Mounted with the hour wheel is a wheel of 40 which gears with a wheel of 80 - thus turning once in 24 hours. An arm on this wheel indexes the day-of-the-week star-wheel forward by one star a day and the calendar wheel of 31 is indexed by one tooth in 24 hours by the same arm. The strike is released by an arm working through an aperture in the front-plate, coming into contact with the three pins mounted on the 2nd wheel (which turns once in three hours). Striking.
